BABY GRAND KITCHEN DESIGN

This three bedroom, third floor apartment is nestled in the trendy east end of Adelaide’s CBD, once being the home of the East End Fruit and Vegetable Markets. The area now occupies four apartment blocks as well as boutique shops, cafes and bars.

The apartment, built in 1999, was ripe for renovation. The kitchen space was tucked away in a corner, unable to take advantage of the vast City and Adelaide Hills views, whilst the remainder was simply looking tired and outdated.

Improving access to this vista was a prerequisite of the recently retired clients who had moved from their family home to this city apartment. They also requested increased functionality with a healthy dose of “wow”.

The removal and relocation of walls created a huge transformation. The existing square dropped ceilings were made into a softer, organic shape of a grand piano

An all-white streamlined kitchen was added, visually amplified by the dramatic Marmi Statuario porcelain splashback. It also boasts a 3.5-metre-long island. On the lounge/ dining room side of the island, flush cabinetry details to the benchtop were achieved. We created a fine shadow line detail between the two surfaces thus giving it the feeling of high end furniture. The internal working benchtops were given a shark nose edge which gives a simple clean line marrying it with the finger pull door design.

This transformed space surpassed the clients’ expectations and they are now thrilled to be calling it theirs.
