Built in the 1930’s, the dwelling is a sandstone fronted, double brick Tudor bungalow. The small South-West facing bathroom was last renovated in the late 1980’s. The clients, a middle aged couple are both busy professionals and have two young sons. The bathroom, situated in the middle of the home, was the second wet area and was to be used predominately by the female client and yet be fully functional as a main bathroom. The existing bathroom lacked adequate planning and the clients were primed for a complete renovation to suit their current lifestyle.
The new design takes advantage of the longer dimension of the room. In order to further create the illusion of space, a large mirror was specified to run the length of the available wall span. This long mirror also provides additional space for more than one user at a time. Additional task lighting was added by installation of a custom LED strip light above the mirror which also adds depth to the overall space. The new streamlined layout provides ample floor space, for multiple users, and upon entering the room provides a welcoming feeling.
As the bathroom was small, both in length and width, careful consideration went into the selection of the furniture and fittings.
The client wished for a tranquil and relaxing space to which she could escape, yet still be fully functional as the main bathroom if needed. Through careful design and thoughtful product selections; a modern and elegant space was created. High end finishing and attention to detail finish off the new bathroom renovation.
The end result induces a sense of relaxation and happiness for the clients and has improved their everyday lives through thoughtful design and high end fittings and finishes. Everything has come together with meticulous detailing and outstanding workmanship.
