After living for far too long with a dark and gloomy 1970’s kitchen, the owners decided it was time for a change. They approached the team at Brilliant SA with a brief to create a modern Hamptons-style-meets-chic-country kitchen to enhance their Californian bungalow.
It was clear the space was in need of a major overhaul in order to create a kitchen that would take price of place within the open plan living area. The overall design includes a buffet unit which perfectly integrates the kitchen with the living and dining rooms and makes the whole space a visual pleasure.
One of the most important requirements was to ensure the new kitchen provided thoughtful storage solutions and increased workspaces. This has been achieved with careful placement of key work zones throughout the kitchen as well as clever selection of appliances and inclusions. The increased storage and bench space makes for a highly interactive kitchen which has become the main meeting point within the home for family and friends.
A traditional mantel above the cooker includes display cupboards with under-cabinet lighting and acts as a gentle reminder of the original era in which the home was built. With new flooring throughout, new windows, and doors leading out to the beautifully-manicured gardens the owners now enjoy every moment they, their family and their friends spend in this stunning, light-filled space.
Designed by Alex Norman and built by the Brilliant SA team.
